Indian journalist Mohammad Zubair arrested for "hurting religious sentiments"
Indian journalist and Alt News portal co-founder Mohammad Zubair was arrested today (June 27, 2022) by the Delhi Police for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, said officials.
A case was earlier registered under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, language etc) and 295A (deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code against Zubair, said K P S Malhotra, deputy commissioner of Delhi Police (Cyber Crime), reports our New Delhi correspondent.
Zubair joined the probe today and after gathering sufficient evidence on record, he was arrested, Malhotra said.
The journalist was being produced before a magistrate for seeking police remand, he added
