All European AL demands Hasina's release

All European unit of the Awami League staged a demonstration in Brussels and submitted a memorandum to the head of the European Union (EU) yesterday demanding immediate release of the party President and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.They also threatened to stop sending remittance to the country and launch tougher movement if their demand goes unheeded. Addressing a protest rally, President of the All EU unit Anil Das Gupta termed the charges against Hasina 'false and fabricated', saying that her arrest is part of a bid to destroy her political career in a planned way. All EU AL General Secretary MA Gani, UK AL General Secretary Prof Abul Hashem, Belgium chapter President Rezaul Karim Pannan, General Secretary Monir Hossain Polin, convenor of the Justice for Bangladesh Genocide 1971 MA Nazrul Islam, German unit President Syed Ahmed Selim and General Secretary Bashirul Alam Chowdhury, Holland AL General Secretary Mostafa Zaman addressed the rally. After the rally, the leaders handed over the memorandum urging the head of the EU to put pressure on the caretaker government to release Hasina.
