VGD flour seized, 4 held in Gaibandha

Joint forces recovered 123 bags of flour allotted for destitute mothers under Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) project from a food trader at Garanata village in Palashbari upazila Tuesday afternoon.They also arrested four persons while selling those in black market. The arrested are Asad Ali, a member of Harinathpur Union Parishad (UP), UP secretary Aminul Islam and two food traders Khairul Islam and Anisul Haque. Earlier, five members of Harinathpur UP lodged a complaint with an army camp here regarding misappropriation of flour from the UP office. Being informed, joint forces raided the village and recovered the flour from possession of Khairul Islam, a food trader. Police said the arrested were loading flour on board a vehicle. Police caught them when they were trying to leave the spot. Joint forces seized the bags of flour and handed over to Palashbari police. Later, the culprits were sent to Gaibandha jail.
