A gang of armed robbers numbering eight entered the house of an employee of the tea garden named Sueb Ahmed by breaking open the door of the house at dead of night. They fastened Sueb Ahmed and raped his relative, a 16-year-old girl in front of the inmates of the house at dagger point. Hailing from Muglabazar in Sylhet, the girl came to visit her relatives at the house with her mother a few days ago.

At that time three women named Nurunnessa, 60, Lutfa Begum, 35, and Jotsna Begum, 22, tried to resist the robbers from rape. But the robbers beat them up causing serious injuries to them.

After committing the crime, the robbers decamped with booty which included gold ornament and cell phone including cash money.

Later, the three injured women were admitted to Kulaura

Upazila Health Complex. As their condition deteriorated, they were sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.

However, Kulaura police arrested two persons from the tea garden yesterday afternoon. The arrested are Selim, 24, and Mutaleb, 22.

Police said, they confessed to police of their involvement in the crime. They further confessed that they had proposed a bad proposal to the girl. As she refused it, they entered the house to rape her. But they looted valuables and cash money from the house to give colour to the incident as a robbery, they said.

Police said an investigation is going on in this regard.
