Navy to plant 2 lakh saplings this year
Bangladesh Navy yesterday launched a massive Tree Plantation Campaign at all naval bases and other shore establishments in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Mongla, Kaptai, Cox's Bazar and various places of coastal belt, says an ISPR press release.Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam inaugurated the programme by planting a 'Neem' sapling on the Naval Headquarters premises at Banani in the city. Later, he offered munajat praying for the success of the Campaign. DG Coast Guard, principal staff officer of Naval Headquarters, senior naval officers and a large number of BN personnel were present on the occasion. This year Bangladesh Navy is going to plant about 2 lakh saplings of different types of fruit, timber/forest species and medicinal plants, including Shal, Mahogany, Koroi, Mango, Jackfruit, Coconut, Arjun, etc. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association has also undertaken similar programmes at different naval bases.
