According to police, he was wanted in several criminal cases including extortion and murder of Jubo Dal leaders Altaf Hossain and K I Sohel Ahmed.

Several general diaries were filed against him by shrimp traders in Natun Bazar and contractors of Rupsha Bridge Construction Project and Khulna City Corporation allegedly for realising tolls during five years of BNP-led government, police said.

The former Jubo Dal leader went into hiding after declaration of emergency.

He was being interrogated by joint forces at Khulna Sadar thana when the report was filed yesterday evening.
