Clash for collecting poisoned fishes in N"ganj: 35 held

Around 35 people were arrested as they locked into a series of clashes yesterday with law enforcers to collect poisoned fishes from the lagoons of Dhaka Wasa in Pagla.Witnesses said the law enforcers arrested them as they fought sporadic clashes with members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and police for nearly three hours since 1:00pm for collecting the poisoned fishes, escalating tension in the locality. Twenty-five of them were sentenced to one month's imprisonment by a mobile court. They were sent to jail hajat. Locals looted a huge amount of the poisoned fishes from the lagoons during the clashes. People were also seen selling those in nearby markets of Pagla and Shyampur areas. There are 16 lagoons of Dhaka Wasa in Pagla where different varieties of fish are cultivated. Fishes only in two of the lagoons were killed with poison on Thursday. Additional police forces have been deployed around the lagoons following the clashes.
