'Development not possible ignoring destitute women'

The destitute women of the country will become self-reliant and play a vital role in the national economy if they are provided with vocational training, speakers said at the inaugural ceremony of a sewing training centre.They also said the country's development is not possible ignoring the destitute women because half of the country's population are women and a vast number of them lead a miserable life. Sabuj Bangla Multipurpose Cooperatives Society, with the financial assistance of UHC Incorporate, launched the sewing training centre at Masterbari at Keraniganj in the city where around 2000 distressed women will be trained. They would not remain a burden for the society if the government and NGOs provide vocational training like sewing training courses, said the speakers. Sabuj Bangla Multipurpose Cooperatives Society Chairman MA Khaleque presided over the occasion while Upazila Cooperatives Officer M Ali Reza, Upazila School Inspector M Nazmul Haq, founder of Rainbow Kindergarten Lt Col (retd) M Tazul Islam and UHC Country Director Idris Ali were also present.
