The victim identified as Safiul Azam Keya, senior media manager of Sara Advertising Limited, was declared dead when local people rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 9:30pm.

He was found unconscious in front of Motijheel Ideal School and College at about 8:30pm when the criminals threw him on the street from a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, witnesses said.

The miscreants looted Tk 25,000 in cash and a cellphone set worth Tk 10,000 from him. Safiul purchased the mobile set in the morning, family members said.

He left his RK Mission Road office at about 8:00pm for his residence, his colleagues said.

DMCH sources said toxic ointment was found in his eyes and his neck was tied with tie.
