In a message to Brown, Hasina said the people of Bangladesh hope that the friendly relations between the two countries would be strengthened further in the days ahead under his able leadership.

"We think Gordon Brown will play a vital role in favour of democracy, peace and development, particularly extend his hands to the developing nations for poverty reduction, eliminating terrorism and establishing democracy and good governance," She said.

Hasina wished Brown and his family members good health, and prosperity of the people of his country.
