'Kalhar': A reflection of art and architecture

Omni Books and writers.ink jointly organised a reception for eminent art historian, archaeologist and founder director general of the Bangladesh National Museum, Dr. Enamul Haque, on the occasion of the publication of "Kalhar", an anthology of essays on art, archaeology, sculpture and architecture on June 2 at the Omni outlet in Gulshan, Dhaka. "Kalhar" (White Water-Lily) contains 40 reflective articles written in honour of Professor Enamul Haque by scholars from home and abroad. Thirteen of these articles are written by Bangladeshi writers. Gouriswar Bhattacharya, Gerd JR Mevissen, Mallar Mitra and Sutapa Sinha are the editors of the book. Former vice chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, Professor Zillur Rahman Siddiqui presided over the programme and handed over copies of the books to the Bangladeshi contributors. Professor Niaz Zaman, Professor Salahuddin Ahmed, Professor Fakhrul Alam, Professor AKM Yakub Ali, Dr. Nazimuddin and Neo Mendes of Omni Books, spoke on the occasion. The speakers lauded the book as a valuable reference for studies in art, iconography and architecture of India and Bangladesh.
