Sources said a gang of miscreants kidnapped Ahmedur Rahman Badsha, a member of Khagaria Union Parishad under Satkania, at around 1:15am as the latter tried to resist them from gambling.

Ahmedur heard about the gambling den while he was patrolling the place along with some night guards, they said.

The miscreants kidnapped him at gunpoint, took him to a house of one Kabir Ahmad and beat him.

Being informed, a team of joint forces raided the village and recovered the UP member from the house at around 3:00am. However, the miscreants managed to flee the scene.

A case was filed accusing eight people with Satkania Police Station in this connection, said Alamgir Hossain, concerned officer in charge.
