Jalil in CCU with chest pain

Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil was admitted to the coronary care unit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) last night as he complained of chest pain.

"We sent Mr Jalil to a prison cell as our physicians who had checked him said chest pain is not a good sign for a person having a pacemaker installed in his body," Deputy Inspector General (Prisons) Maj Shamsul Haider Siddique told The Daily Star last night.

He said Jalil complained of chest pain soon after a Dhaka court had ordered to send him to Dhaka Central Jail at 5:15pm following completion of Jalil's four-day remand.

The AL general secretary was admitted to the hospital's prison cell at 8:45pm. He was taken to the coronary care unit about two hours into his admission to the hospital.
