The deceased are Kalpona, 15, of Faridpanggashi village, Afzal Hossain, 38, of Ratonkandi village, Dipu, 22, of Kaliarchar village and Ahmad Ali, 28, son of Kutti Pramanik of Nandalalpur village in Shahzadpur upazila and Yusuf Ali, 36, son of Abdur Razzak of Delua village in Belkuchi upazila, police said.

Kalpona died on the spot when thunderbolt struck her while she was working at the court yard of her house during rain on Friday evening. Rest others died while on way to their homes from local bazaar during rain the same day.
