Police and witnesses said the dead was identified as Nurul Islam Bhuiyan, 52, hailing from Bania-Chow village of Shahrasti upazila.

The accident occurred when a micro-bus knocked him on the road while he was returning home from his office at Shahrasti upazila in a bike, leaving him dead on the spot.

Angry people put up a barricade on the road for over an hour following the accident.
