Valerie to remain CRP coordinator

The board of trustees of the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) yesterday took a decision to reinstate Valerie A Taylor to her previous post of the coordinator, said a news release.

The board also withdrew a letter issued on May 14, through which the post of the coordinator was dissolved.

Valerie was removed from her post following a longstanding dispute between two groups of the organisation, one of which was comprised of a number of trustees, a former chief executive officer (CEO), and a section of the CRP staff, while the other group was comprised of the supporters of Valerie. The dispute was over Valerie's approach to running CRP, which treats and rehabilitates disabled people.

The news release, signed by CRP's Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Dr Muhammad Nurul Haque, said in a bid to resolve all the confusions and misunderstandings, the letter issued on May 14 dissolving the post of the coordinator, has been withdrawn.

"Valerie A Taylor will remain the adviser/coordinator carrying out her previous duties," the release said adding that the decision goes into effect immediately.

The reversal of the earlier decision came following severe criticisms from a cross section of the people against the move to remove Valerie from the post of the coordinator.

The release also said the decision to dissolve the post created confusions and misunderstandings among the people.

"We gratefully recall Valerie's contributions, none has the intention to tarnish her organisational dignity, and there cannot be any question of removing her from the organisation," the news release read.
