New Zealand lauds Bangladesh's achievements in various sectors
Bangladesh HC presents credentials
Governor General of New Zealand Ananad Satyanand has appreciated the economic creativity and diversity of Bangladesh, says a press release.

He has called for expansion of trade and business links between Bangladesh and New Zealand by capitalising on duty-free entry of Bangladeshi products to that country.

The governor general was speaking at the presentation of credentials by Bangladesh High Commissioner (HC) M Humayun Kabir at the Government House in Wellington yesterday.

He evinced keen interests in the recent developments of Bangladesh, particularly in women empowerment, health sector and micro-credit.

Ananad reiterated that New Zealand has been cooperative and friendly towards Bangladesh since its independence.

He hoped that bilateral relations between the two countries particularly in the field of education, trade and investment will be enhanced in the days ahead.

He also lauded the role of Bangladesh in UN peacekeeping operations all over the world being the top contributor of troops in the world.

High Commissioner Humayun Kabir highlighted the progressive and liberal policy framework for foreign direct investment in Bangladesh.

He hoped that New Zealand entrepreneurs could build up a vibrant and mutually beneficial economic interactions with their Bangladeshi counterparts through knowledge and skill sharing and joint venture initiatives.

Humayun informed that the present interim government had engaged itself vigorously to eradicate corruption and make the political and electoral process more transparent and accountable so that good governance could be ensured through the effective participation and oversight of the people.

He mentioned that Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relationship with New Zealand which is based on shared commitment to peace, democracy, human dignity, rule of law and justice.

The high commissioner also stated that Bangladesh, as a young and dynamic nation and as a responsible member of the international community, has been trying to build up a moderate and harmonious social structure incorporating people from all religions and segments of the society.
