DU contractor beat up sub-contractor

Dhaka University-enlisted contractor Kamal Uddin Ahmed yesterday allegedly beat up a sub-contractor, who worked at DU for years, as he asked Kamal to pay arrears amounting to about Tk two lakh.Sub-contractor Ismail Hossain Gazi, his head wrapped in bandage, told journalists that Kamal called him to talk about the payment yesterday. But Kamal beat him when he (Gazi) met him at the DU Registrar Building at around 12:30pm. Gazi was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. On May 21, Gazi filed a general diary with Shahbagh Police Station, mentioning that Kamal issued a death threat to him. Kamal is the general secretary of the contractors' association of the DU and vice-president of Feni district BNP. However, Kamal was not available for his comments.
