'Organise farmers to help improve their fate'
Speakers at a discussion yesterday called for organising the farmers to help improve their fate.

They said until the farmers are well organised their deprivation will never come to an end.

The discussion titled 'Budget on agriculture: Peasant's budget' was organised by Channel i on the premises of Rahimkuri Govt Primary School at Boro Harishpur union in Natore, says a press release.

The speakers said only five percent farmers of the country are aware of national budget while the rest do not have any idea about it.

Besides, these peasants are not even aware of their due rights, they added.

Facilitator of the programme and Channel i Director Shaikh Siraj laid emphasis on the availability of information to the peasants in a timely manner.

Renowned economist Hossain Zillur Rahman said country's policy makers are not much concerned about the fate of agriculture and farmers.

The peasants said they do not have access to any information about fertiliser, quality seeds, irrigation and even pesticides.
