Aktel Career Fair '07 held on DU campus

A daylong career fair was held on the premises of Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday that drew a huge response from the students. The Aktel Career Fair 2007 was organised by the Department of Finance with a view to grooming the career of the students of the faculty. A total of 16 corporate houses, including Grameenphone, TM International (Bangladesh) Limited, CityCell, British American Tobacco, Rahim Afroz, Citibank NA, Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC, National Bank, BD Jobs, Unilever Bangladesh Limited and Trust Bank Limited participated in the fair. Channel i, Radio Today and The Daily Star were the media partners of the event. A number of faculty students expressed their satisfaction over the holding of the fair saying that these kinds of fairs offer them a chance to have a better idea about the corporate houses. During the fair, several hundred students submitted their CVs to the participating organisations according to their choices and competency. Earlier in the morning, DU VC Prof SMA Faiz formally inaugurated the fair. Faculty Dean Prof Serajul Islam, Chairman of Finance department Prof Mahmood Osman Imam and Managing Director of TM International (Bangladesh) Limited Ahmad Bin Ismail were also present on the occasion. Addressing the inaugural session, Prof Faiz hoped that through the fair, the faculty and the employees would be able to foster a synergistic relationship and create a sustainable win-win situation in the coming years. M Aminul Haque, general manager (HR) of TM International (Bangladesh) Limited, said they were optimistic that the students would be greatly benefited by participating in the fair while the participating organisations will have the opportunity to find the right talents.
