Two young men murdered in city


Two youths, including an alleged criminal, were killed in two separate incidents in the last two days in the city.

The victims were identified as Sumon, 25, a resident of Dakkhin Para in Badda and Sagar Mridha, 25, an employee of Bay Tannery Ltd in Hajaribagh who hailed from Pirojpur.

Some unidentified criminals gunned Sumon down near Gulbagh at Motijheel level crossing yesterday afternoon.

Witnesses said a gang of 4/5 members shot Sumon in the back and right thigh.

Locals rushed him to a local clinic. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College where the on duty doctors declared him dead.

Sources alleged there are cases against Sumon who is a criminal in the area.

In another incident, police recovered the body of Sagar from the generator room of Bay Tannery at 10:00pm on Wednesday night.

The body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Police took eight employees of the tannery for questioning following the recovery.

Police ar suspecting that Sagar was hammered to death sometimes between 7:00pm to 9:00pm by his colleagues following previous enmity over some trifling matters.

Severe injuries were found in the back of his head and in right ear. Sign of strangulation was also found in his neck.

The arrested employees also informed that a group of 4/5 led by Russel and Shohag searched for Sagar Wednesday night and took the latter with them before 7:00pm.
