Rehab denies allegations

Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (Rehab) yesterday denied the allegations raised by environmental groups and human rights activists, says a Rehab press release.

On Wednesday, the environmental groups and human rights activists urged the government not to be confused by the advertisement and appeal of Rehab published in a section of newspapers recently.

They also called on the government to take legal actions against the developers who grabbed land illegally for their housing projects.

The Rehab in the release said the organisation submitted a memorandum to the chief adviser for resolving the problems and developing the housing sector.

But the press conference of Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon and some other organisations showed that a misunderstanding has been created between the developers and environment and human rights activists.

The Rehab does not support any activity which is against peoples' interest, rather it is supporting the government's efforts to solve the housing problems, the release added.

The Rehab also supports the government's ongoing drive against illegal activities and corruption.

If there is any factual mistake in the memorandum, it could be amended through discussion, the Rehab added.
