A petition seeking court direction on government's reported course of action surrounding former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was filed with the High Court yesterday.Abdul Wadud Khondkar, a sacked additional attorney general, filed the habeas corpus petition that is likely to be taken up for hearing on Sunday, court sources said. The petitioner sought court direction asking the government to withdraw reported internment of Khaleda Zia, restrain from creating "pressure" on her to leave the country, restore her land phone connections and allow close relations and well-wishers to meet her at her cantonment residence. Earlier, a habeas corpus petition was filed with the High Court challenging the reported restrictions on the movements of Khaleda Zia, which the government in a press note refused.
