Monthly musical soiree by Srijon


Srijon, a cultural organisation arranges a musical soiree titled Pheley Asha Diner Gaan every month. Srijon's musical programme on April 30 was held at the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium, National Museum. The evening began with an instrumental presentation. Tagore, Nazrul and folk songs along with classic songs of yesteryears followed the recital.

A solo sitar performance by Manik Khondokar was directed by Syed Meher Hossain. Talented young artist Nirjhar Chowdhury rendered two Tagore songs -- Chokhey amar trishna and Shokhi bhabona kaharey boley. Two Nazrul songs Nishi Nijhum ghum nahi ashey and Boshiya bijon-e keno eka -- were sung by Suman Majumdar. Upcoming artists -- Shikha Rouf, Masud Ahmed, Farzana Mili, M A Hye Shahanur, Mahfuza Rumi and M Rafiqul Hassan Selim -- rendered songs of yesteryears originally recorded by eminent singers including Runa Laila, Mahmudunnabi, Baseer Ahmed, Talat Mahmud, Arati Mukhopadhyaya and Protima Bandyopadhyaya.

The event wrapped up with two folk songs-- Pora moner dukkho and Shujon bondhure -- performed by Halima Parveen.
