Eight qualify for finals

Dalim slammed all five goals for his side as Noakhali trounced hosts Feni 5-2 yesterday to qualify for the finals of the Western Union National Youth (Under-18) Football Championship as zonal champions.In an exciting final at the Feni Stadium, Noakhali twice came from behind to cancel goals by Sakhawat and Shahin to hold the home side 2-2 in regulation time. Dalim then slotted three goals inside 12 minutes of extra time to give the visitors the passage to the final round. Pritam struck four goals in BKSP's 6-0 thrashing of hosts Patuakhali in a one-sided final at Patuakhali Stadium. In other zonal finals, Narayan-ganj edged Dhaka 1-0, Jhenaidah brushed aside Pabna 5-0, Khulna beat Jessore 3-0 in the tiebreakers after a goalless 120 minutes, Tangail defeated Gazipur 2-1, Narshingdi recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over Comilla and Gaibandha crushed Kurigram 4-1. In Jaipurhat, Rajshahi blanked Natore 2-0 to set a final clash against Naogaon on Friday. The eight teams to qualify for the final round are: Noakhali, BKSP, Narayanganj, Jhenaidah, Khulna, Tangail, Narshingdi and Gaibandha. They will join final round hosts Satkhira and winners of the last zonal final between Rajshahi and Naogaon in the 10-team finals.
