India supports reforms in Bangladesh
Our Correspondent, New Delhi
India supported the reforms undertaken by the caretaker government in Bangladesh and said these were necessary, Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon said in Washington on Tuesday evening."We want a peaceful Bangladesh. We want to be a good neighbour of Bangladesh. We would like to see restoration of democracy in the country," Press Trust of India quoted Menon as telling reporters. "The present caretaker government is doing things which are necessary so that people of Bangladesh can have a chance to express their will freely and fairly through elections," he said after talks with US Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns. Menon also noted that Bangladesh figured in his talks with senior officials of the Bush administration.
