Govt to form monitoring body to identify price hike reasons

The government has decided to form a monitoring committee headed by the law adviser to identify reasons behind continuing rise in essential prices. Prices of essentials have continued to rise in spite of a government decision to reduce tariffs on imported food items including rice and lentils, and remove tariffs in some cases, Law Adviser Mainul Hosein told reporters at his residence yesterday.An earlier government decision to assign Dhaka City Corporation and Bangladesh Trading Corporation to monitor the market has not delivered as per the government's expectations, sources said.
