Khulna Shishu Hospital management body dissolved

Divisional Commissioner Kabir Mohammad Ashraf Alam yesterday dissolved the 12-member management committee of Khulna Shishu Hospital and formed a new nine-member committee to conduct affairs of the hospital with additional deputy commissioner (General) as convener.The divisional commissioner, who is ex-officio president of Khulna Shishu Foundation, made this decision in a meeting held in his office at 11:00am yesterday. The decision to dissolve the 12-member committee was taken in view of allegations of corruption, irregularities in financial matters and nepotism. It is alleged that president of the dissolved committee Dr AKM Kamrul Islam and general secretary Sekander Zafarullah Khan Shacchu employed 195 employees during the last three years without approval of the president of Shishu Foundation. They allegedly took over Tk 150 lakh as bribe for these irregular appointments. Shacchu, also senior vice president of Khulna City BNP, denied all allegations saying that none was appointed without approval of the board of Khulna Shishu Foundation. The newly formed nine-member committee will initiate probe into allegations of corruption and irregularities, sources said.
