Clarification
Following a news report headlined 'Huge number of SIM, scratch cards seized for evading Tk 90cr VAT' carried on May 28 issue of The Daily Star, the Banglalink authority said in a clarification that it carries out activities maintaining all applicable rules and regulations.

They said currently the VAT officials are conducting an investigation into the warehousing of their products but they did not receive anything officially regarding the alleged irregularities mentioned in the press report.

No specific allegations of wrongdoing, be it on grounds of VAT evasion or incorrect VAT registration against the two mentioned companies (Ring and Orasinvest) that provide warehousing services to Banglalink, have been made till now, the clarification said.

They are cooperating with the VAT authorities in the investigation, the Banglalink authorities said adding they are confident that the investigation would prove that Banglalink is operating in compliance with the VAT rules.
