Manusher Jonno emerges as independent organisation
The Manusher Jonno Project of CARE Bangladesh started to function as an independent organisation styled 'Manusher Jonno Foundation', from April 1 with the mandate to promote human rights and good governance, says a press release.The Manusher Jonno project, funded by DFID and implemented by CARE Bangladesh, was launched in July 2002. With major thrusts on rights and good governance, it now provides funding and capacity building support to 130 organisations all over Bangladesh. The CARE Manusher Jonno project ended on March 31, 2007, and it started functioning as the Manusher Jonno Foundation, an independent organisation, under oversight of its own governing board. CARE welcomes this transition of Manusher Jonno into an independent organisation that will work with partners on poverty reduction, advocacy and rights-based activities.
