Container train derails at Tongi Rail Station

A compartment of a Dhaka-bound container train derailed at the outdoor signal at Tongi Rail Station yesterday, disrupting train service at Tongi for one and a half hours.

The accident occurred when four wheels of a bogie veered off the track at around 1:50pm, Tongi railway sources said.

The train service resumed at 3:40pm after a rescue train from Dhaka reached the spot.

Abdul Bari, stationmaster of Tongi station, said the reason behind the derailment could not be known immediately.
