Defending champions Rajshahi forced Sy-lhet out of the top slot with an emphatic 79-run victory in the third round of the limited-overs Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 8th National Cricket League at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium yesterday.Wicketkeeper Anwar Hossain made unbeaten 113 as Dhaka recovered from their second round defeat to secure a 39-run victory against Chittagong at BKSP to follow leaders Rajshahi while Barisal registered their first win after beating all-losers Khulna by 10 runs in a high-scoring match at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium. RAJSHAHI-SYLHET Anisur Rahman hit an 85-ball 82 with the help of nine fours and a six and then took three wickets for 23 runs as Rajshahi maintained their winning run and brightened their chance of retaining the title. The two were sharing the top spot before this round. Apart from his innings, out-of-national-favour all-rounder Mushfiqur Rahman chipped in with 49 off 52 balls that saw three fours and Hasanuzzaman blasted an unbeaten 44 off 28 balls by smashing two fours and as many sixes as Rajshahi amassed 288-6 in allotted 50 overs. After a century in the second round Alok Kapali hammered a 38-ball 59 that featured six fours and four sixes and Sadiqur Rahman added 55 off 76 balls with the help of three boundaries but still Sylhet were bundled out for 209 in 43.4 overs. DHAKA-CHITTAGONG Anwar struck seventeen boundaries to make 113 off 157 balls and Al Shahriar played a quickfire 60 off 52 balls that contained nine fours as Dhaka put up 252-9 after being decided to bat first. In reply, Dhiman Ghosh made 91 off 98 balls that included seven boundaries but Chittagong were dismissed for 213 runs in 47.2 overs to suffer their second defeat in three games. Sarifullah was the most successful Dhaka bowler with 3-27. BARISAL-KHULNA Monirul Islam and Imrul Kayes associated 120 runs for the opening stand but Khulna were all out for 297 runs with two overs to spare in reply to a Barisal's mammoth 307. Number eight batsman Fahim Muntasir occupied the one end with 44-ball 41 but last two batsmen fell the victim of runs outs which put the end of Khulna's valiant run chase. Monirul scored 65 off 56 balls that saw seven fours and two sixes while Kayes added 56 off 47 deliveries with the help of seven fours and a six. Earlier Barisal innings built around on an unbeaten 83 runs by Raisul Islam who clobbered six boundaries. Opener Rokibul Hasan was the other notable scorer with 50 off 68 balls.
