Star Cineplex's second anniversary and award giving ceremony

An award giving ceremony for the best movies, directors and actors was organised by Star Cineplex (SC) at Bashudhara City, Dhaka on March 3. Simultaneously the organisers celebrated the second anniversary of the theatre hall. The event attracted a number of major Bangladeshi movie stars and cultural personalities.Among the personalities who took part in the programme were veteran actress Kabori Sarwar, directors Tareque Masud and Catherine Masud, Mirka Christina Rahman, managing director of SC and Mahbubur Rahman, chairman of the SC, Rezanur Rahman, editor of Anando Alo and others. The event was held to recognise excellence in the Bangladeshi film industry and honour artists and movies in various categories. The nomination for the best movies went to Nirontor, Nandito Narokey, Ontorjatra, Rani Kuthir Baki Itihash, Nacholer Rani, Hridoyer Kotha and Rupkothar Golpo. Directors Abu Sayeed, Tareque Masud, Catherine Masud and Diamond received awards for their works. Ferdous, Poppy, Chanchal Chowdhury and Sumona Shoma won award for the best actors. Channel i and Anando Alo won the awards in the visual media and print media category respectively. The star-studded event ended with the screening of the clippings of some blockbuster Hollywood movies.
