Members of Zahurul's family in a press release said the eviction notice, issued on February 25, ordered them to vacate the 76-year old historical residence at Sonapur village under Sudharam upazila of the district where the grave of Zahurul's mother is situated.

The press release claimed that Zahurul's grandfather Quazi Serajul Haque constructed the house after taking a lease from the District Board in 1930.

He was the honorary magistrate of the district and founding professor of Barisal BM College at that time.

Upon a writ petition filed by the members of Zahurul's family, a higher court has granted stay order against the eviction notice for three months.

The court also served a show cause notice on the authorities concerned to explain the reason for the move within a week.

The family members of Zahurul are now deeply concerned over the future of the house and urged the caretaker government to take effective steps against the illegal move, the release added.
