Zia wins, Niaz loses

Grand Master Ziaur Rahman won his eighth round board against local International Master Saptarshi Roy in the Kolkata Open Grand Master Chess tournament at the Gorky Sadan yesterday.Zia improved his tally to five points while Grand Master Niaz Murshed, International Master Abdullah Al Rakib and Enamul Hossain Rajib secured 4.5 points each after the eighth round. FM Abu Sufian Shakil and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag earned four points each. In this round, Rajib beat Preetham Sharma, Rakib lost to Georgian Grand Master Mikheil Kekelidze, Niaz lost to Uzbekistan Grand Master Uldachev Saidali, Shakil drew with IM Dinesh Kumar Sharma and Parag beat Satyajit Kunda.
