Allegations were widespread against the UNO, Joyanta Kumar Sikdar, for bribery in recruitment of teachers and favouritism in eviction of illegal occupants.

He was also accused of holding back payment of salary of the headmaster of Gaddimari High School for 30 months ignoring the High Court order.

The joint forces probed the allegations against Joyanta and picked him up along with his office assistant Abdus Sattar from the office yesterday noon. They were undergoing interrogation at the army camp, police said.
