Hasina's reference to Dr. Yunus

In my humble opinion, the truth behind Sheikh Hasina's remark is one based on fear. She is fully aware that the majority of the Awami League's support stems from the grassroots level which is an area where Professor Yunus succeeded in improving the lives of millions. So, naturally those that experienced an improvement in their livelihood will support those who succeeded. When in power, the Awami League opens up the borders allowing foodstuff to pour into the country. As a result, the price drops and this is of course beneficial for the poverty stricken, but not the local producers. The BNP's policy is contrary to this since they tend to promote Bangladeshi products, but then the local producers get greedy. During their period, the borders remain closed and the prices of commodities spiral out of control. The poor will support those who have succeeded in improving their lives in the long term. Both Awami League and BNP's policies are negative because there is no equilibrium. For this reason, it is my belief that a large number of the rural population will vote in favour of Professor Yunus and this is a threat to the survival of the Awami League.

Political parties like the Awami League and BNP have done very little, apart from naming buildings, bridges and airports after (their) dead father/husband, so it's about time that someone with an ounce of intelligence leads the country forward.
