Domestic help found dead in city house

Police recovered body of a domestic help inside a bathroom of a house at Pallabi in the city yesterday.

The victim identified as Jasim Mia, 12, worked as a domestic help at the residence of Advocate Abdul Baten at Road no-22, House no-23, at the Rupnagar residential area.

Police said they found his head dipped in a bucket full of water inside the bathroom.

Police quoted Baten as saying he went out of his house in the morning for his respective workplace, leaving Jasim inside the house alone keeping it under lock and key as his wife went to her father's house recently.

When Baten along with his niece Shimu returned home at around 1:45pm, he found the door open and all the house stuffs scattered, police said.

Police suspected that robbers might have killed Jasim during the robbery and dipped the body inside the bucket.

Police, however, could not say what things were missing from the house till filing of the report at 10:00pm.
