Ctg-Barisal Coastal Service of BIWTC resumes after 7 yrs
The Chittagong-Barisal Coastal Service of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BITWC) resumed its operation again after being suspended for seven years, says a BIWTC press release. The ship will start from Chittagong Sadar Ghat every Monday at 9:00am and will arrive at Barisal at 5:00am on Tuesday via Sandip and Hatia. It will again sail from Barisal at 8:00pm the same day and will arrive at Chittagong BIWTC ship ghat on Wednesday at 5:00pm for the greater interest of the people of the southern region. The service was disrupted following an accident of MV Alauddin Ahmed ship on December 19, 2005 as well as shortage of ships, the press release added.
