The victim was identified as Kanchan Sen, 45, a real estate businessman of Agrabad in Chittagong. He checked in at Green Tower Residential Hotel at Maghbazar in Dhaka on Monday.

Sources said Kanchan was reading a newspaper at the reception counter of the hotel at around 4:00pm on Tuesday when two unidentified youths fired on him.

Bullet-hit Kanchan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died at around 10:30am yesterday.

On Tuesday night, lying on the hospital bed, Kanchan told reporters that his rivals who had a feud with him over a land dispute might have been behind the armed attack.
