According to a decision taken by the caretaker government on February 6, the five percent enhancement of power tariff will be effective only for the consumers living in urban areas and using over 100 units of power.

Power ministry officials said the tariff raise will cover only the Desa, Desco and PBD consumers.

At present, the tariff rate of electricity in rural areas is higher than in towns and cities.
