Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at around 7.00am when a Natore-bound bus collided head on with a Nasimon (locally made auto-tempo), leaving two people dead on the spot and 27 others injured.

Of the injured, two more succumbed to their injuries at Sirajganj General Hospital.

The injured said their valuables were looted in the name of rescue by some locals with the help of some police personnel of Tarash Police Station after the accident.

They said the accident took place due to dense fog and cold wave.

When contacted Afzal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Tarash Police Station over cellphone about complaints of the injured, he said he does not know anything about the accident.

But, a sub-inspector seeking anonymity, said necessary steps will be taken against the culprits after an investigation.
