BGMEA President SM Fazlul Hoque in a press statement on Thursday said Bangladesh can only communicate three days to its American and European buyers due to differences in holidays.

"European countries, America and Canada enjoys Saturdays and Sundays as holiday while Bangladesh remains closed on Fridays and Saturdays. Besides, Bangladesh has a 12-hour gap in timing from those countries. This difference results in non-communication with the buyers for four days which impacts the growth of the sector badly," Hoque added.

Citing examples of Pakistan and Indonesia, Hoque requested the government to re-fix the weekly holiday for only Sunday instead of Friday and Saturday.
