Afp, Lisbon
Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari named PSV Eindhoven's uncapped defender Manuel Costa on Thursday in the squad which will face his native Brazil in a friendly in London on February 6.The 20-year-old was born in France but as both his parents are from Portugal he opted to play for the Portuguese under 21 side. Scolari also called up Valencia midfielder Hugo Viana for the first time since the 2006 World Cup in Germany but he once again left out Atletico Madrid midfielders Costinha and Maniche. "We have called on the players who we feel are in the best shape for the match," he said. "This is a normal game, it is like any match against any other national team. Brazil is strong so we expect the normal difficulties that arise when we face sqauds of this level." Scolari led Brazil to its fifth World Cup title in 2002. The match at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium will be the second between Portugal and Brazil since Scolari took the helm of the Portuguese national team in December 2002.
