Police recovered bodies of a young man and a woman in Shyampur and Badda in the capital yesterday. The slaughtered body of Shahjahan, 28, a pick-up van driver, was found in a hole within the boundary of Shyampur Balurmath at 2:00pm. Police sent it to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy. It seemed Shahjahan was slaughtered not more than a couple of hours before its recovery, police said. Shahjahan lived in a mess of neighbouring Dholeshwar, Shyampur police said referring to locals. In this connection, police held grocers Obaidur Rahman and Badal near Balurmath. Badda police recovered the body of a woman, aged around 25, from a sack in front of a furniture shop in Progati Sarani yesterday morning and sent it to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. Locals said a white private car coming from the northern side of the street threw the body there at 5:00am. The bruises and marks of injury around the neck indicated that the woman was strangled to death, morgue sources said, adding that she was killed not much before the body had been sent to morgue. She also had marks of assaults all over, they said. Police suspect that she might be a domestic help of a family dwelling in the nearby area.
