BFF's Sylhet crisis not over

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) was hoping against hope that one team from Sylhet will play in the B. League to rescue the federation from the recent crisis following the withdrawal of Sylhet District Sports Association (DSA) from the coming Professional Football League.

An emergency meeting of the B. League tournament committee yesterday was adjourned till Saturday for further development, told league committee member and BFF general secretary Anwarul Hoque Helal.

"We have come to know that the players' association in Sylhet is interested to field a team in spite of the short time. They have the fund and manpower to go for it," told Helal.

Although it would be almost impossible for a new outfit to meet all the demands of the professional set-up, Sylhet DSA's preparation for participating in the Professional League might become handy.

Any half-hearted approach, however, would not be appropriate for entering the top flight of domestic football.

"We have asked them to confirm whether they would get the venue, which belongs to the DSA," said Helal.

"I have talked with the DSA general secretary -- Khondokar Fazlur Rahim -- who has informed me that they have no problem to allot the venue to any cub ready to play. But the problem is that the previous DSA committee had allotted the venue to cricket. It makes things complicated. So we have given them a day and that's why we've adjourned the meeting. We will sit on Saturday to settle the issue."
