Etc-Oitijhya book fair opens


Etcetera Bangladesh Private Limited (Etc) and Oitijhya Publications launched a month-long book fair titled 'Etcetera-Oitijhya Ekushey Boi Utshab' yesterday.

Eminent poet and litterateur Al Mahmud and Chairperson of Etc Yasmeen Murshed inaugurated the festival at Dhanmondi showroom of Etc in the city.

The organisers said the book fair would continue till February 28 at city's Dhanmondi and Gulshan showrooms of Etc and Books Express at Banani.

While inaugurating the fair, Al Mahmud said Bangalee cannot go without books, as they have an immense thirst for books.

Lauding the initiative, he said they have taken a good initiative.

Yasmeen Murshed, also the former adviser to the caretaker government, said they are happy to organise such a book fair in the month of February.

She said some people think Etc is just a life style store or a shop of English books only but through this festival they are trying to uphold the cultural spirit of Bangalees.

The festival will remain open from 10:00am to 11:00pm everyday, the organisers said.

Arifur Rahman Nayeem, chief executive of Oitijhya and Shoma Zaheed, head of customer service and public relation of Scholastica, were also present at the ceremony.
