The victim was identified as Mohammad Salimullah, 58, chairman of Ghoradhap Union Parishad (UP).

He was slaughtered at around 11pm Monday near his house in Bandha Chitolia when he was returning home in his motorcycle from the UP office. He died on the spot, police said.

Being informed, police recovered the body and brought it to Jamalpur Sadar Police Station on the same night.

Jamalpur Sadar police said they are yet to find any clue to the murder. None was arrested till filing the report at 2pm yesterday.

Salimullah's son Bin Amin filed a murder case with Jamalpur Sadar Police Station without naming any accused.
