Holy Ashura observed

The country observed the holy Ashura on Tuesday commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the youngest grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SM), with his followers in the Battle of Karbala 1326 years ago.Different religious organisations and groups observed the day with due respect. The day was a public holiday. In Hosseini Dalan in the city, a 10-day programme commemorating the last 10 days of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) ended on Tuesday. A big Tajia procession with 'Marsia' paraded different city streets in the afternoon. President Iajuddin Ahmed, Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina issued statements on the occasion.
