Four-party Alliance enforced the hartal. All shops and business establishments remained closed during hartal hours. No vehicle plied as picketers blocked the roads since morning.

A procession was brought out at about 11 am. Processionists paraded the main streets of the town chanting slogans in support of their demand. Later, a meeting was held at the Post Office intersection. Juba Dal president Zahiduzzaman Mona chaired the meeting.

Speakers threatened a tougher agitation if the administration fails to arrest the killers without delay.

Among others, Jhenidah Pourasabha chairman Abdul Malek, Juba Dal leaders M A Majid, Kamal Azad Pannu, addressed the meeting.
